I do not know who is the first owner or owners prior to me. Even the manufacturer or the year it was manufactured is not known. This excellent piece of artwork was purchased over 30 years ago from a shop in Temple Street in Melaka. Hopefully someone reading into this can share some light to its true age and its origin.
This Tempayan or "Crock" or "Large Earthenware" or "Large Jar" (whatever the English name) has an approximate diameter of 48mm x Height 38mm and its diameter at the base is 30mm. The measurements are approximate as this is a hand made item and unlikely to get perfect round or square.
Unlike most tempayans, what makes this so unique are the embossed 3 types of fruits, 5 golden birds (most probably swallows) and 5 multi-coloured gold fishes imprinted inside the Jar. In addition other symbolic items on it are also raised to the feel.
Is this a rare item? Well for many years I had tried looking for a similar item to complement my collection but have not been very successful in finding one.

In order to allow viewers of this blog to get the best idea or feel on this item, the pictures are taken based on clockwise starting at point 12 o'clock with a 1.30 hours interval. There will also be a video at the end of this article.
Below are some of the objects that are inscribed onto it.
To be continued!!!
Why are these items added to the Tempayan? Does any of them act as lucky charm, signify long life and wealth? Ward of evil or what??
It is unlikely that I will be able to research and find the answers and hopefully followers of this blog can share their valuable knowledge here.
